Volunteer Needs

The HSA's success is heavily dependent on involvement from parents from our school community who give their time to support the staff and students. With all the different HSA events throughout the school year, we have a lot of parent volunteer opportunities.

Please take a look at some of these events listed below. Reach out to us to let us know which event(s) you'd like to be involved in or with any questions!

Student Photo Day takes place in October. Volunteer details will be provided soon.

Fall Book Fair / Spring Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is one of the most anticipated events for students. We'll need volunteers to help set-up, organize/stock shelves, and ring up purchases. The Fall Book Fair is scheduled for the week of October 23rd this year. The Spring Book Fair is scheduled for the first week of June. Detailed volunteer time-slots will be available closer to the dates.

Fall Festival

Our annual Fall Festival is a community event that follows the Leonia Treat Street event. Activities & attractions include: Pumpkin carving/decorating Book fair Carnival games & prizes Face painting Crafts D.J. Farmers Market Food trucks Vendors We'd like to make this year's Fall Festival an even bigger success. To make that happen we'll need the help of volunteers to contact vendors and also run stations the day of.

Community/School Event

Family Game Night

Family Game Night is an evening of fun and games held at ACS. Activities in the past have included yoga, board games, and gym activities. We'll need volunteers to help run activity stations, keep areas safe and organized, and serve refreshments. Date is TBD but typically held in March.

Fundraiser; Community Event

Spring Gala

Our Annual Spring Gala is our biggest fundraising event of the year, but we need your help to make it a success. We’re looking for items for our raffle and silent auction that will be held during the event. Donations can be tickets to a show/event, a meet & greet, memorabilia, collectibles, artwork, classes/lessons, gift baskets, services, gift cards, or experiences. Is there a business that you frequent that you could ask to make a donation? Popular items from previous galas have been "a Blue Sky Studio tour" (Blue Sky Studio animated the movie "Ferdinand", and many more), a "Paint and Wine Party" hosted by a local artist, a dinner-date-for-two at home with a private chef, and family photo sessions. Think creatively. If you think of something, but aren’t sure if it works, please ask us!

Mother's Day Plant Sale

ACS students will have an opportunity to purchase flowering plants just in time for Mother's Day. We'll need volunteers to help coordinate plant pick-up/drop-off and help with sales the day of. More details will be provided as we get closer to the date.

School Event

Field Day

We've heard from numerous students that this is their favorite day at school and it's no wonder why. Students enjoy a fun-filled day of outdoor activities at ACS and Wood Park such as a giant inflatable obstacle course, sponge/water relay, cup stacking, basketball shooting, tug-of-war, sidewalk chalk art, jump rope, and lots more! We'll need parent volunteers to make Field Day a success. Each year, parent volunteers help run activity stations during Field Day. Details for volunteer time slots will be available closer to the date. Field Day is typically held around the 3rd week of May. Sign up to let us know you'd like to be involved.
